the other side (of the lens)

For the past week at the Chicago Photography Center we've been talking a lot about the other side of the lens. We've been discussing what it feels like to be photographed. How odd it is to be captured.

I like to think that I always have the strangeness of photography—the conversion from three to two dimensions, the attention given to a part of a second of a life—in mind. I like to believe that I have special putting-myself-in-your-shoes power. But after an hour of being photographed yesterday, I'm not so sure I've ever worn these shoes before.

Here are a few people who have done so recently (for me!).
