found and lost

On Easter Sunday we had a house full of friends and family for brunch. Because of the cold, we were all stuck inside. The kids had their hunt anyway, using these paper greetings instead of eggs. "Do you trade these in for treats?" I heard people asking. But no, the girls were finding and then rehiding these slips of paper. There was no candy in sight. Truth is that you can get really tricky with the hiding when you don't have the three dimensionality of the egg to worry about. Today, as I finish the last of the cleanup I keep finding these little greetings in my laundry, in between the tulip petals, on my couch—sweet reminders of the happy Ester we had.

If by some disaster the roads suddenly disappeared, I find it comforting to know that there would be a paper trail of "happy Ester" from Ottawa to Chicago.
