in the cañon

Visiting the family in Cañon City, Colorado, home of the Royal Gorge Bridge. In past adventures, most of my views have been of the bottom of the bridge, as we passed under it while rafting the Arkansas River, which runs through the gorge. It is spectacular from any vantage point.

I didn't try to photograph it last night, but it has also been delightful to be reunited with the Milky Way, which is best seen while lying on a wooden bench on the back patio at home.*

I've missed the red dirt and the stardust.

*a few willful astronomers still argue that a better view of the MW can be had elsewhere, but they haven't been on the patio recently.
